Tamanna is a Bollywood drama film released in 1998, directed by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. The film features a talented cast consisting of Paresh Rawal, Pooja Bhatt, and Sharad S. Kapoor in the lead roles. The story revolves around Tamanna Sahni (Pooja Bhatt), a young and ambitious journalist who is determined to succeed in her career. She lives with her father, mother, and younger brother, and is deeply attached to her family. Tamanna wants to write about the struggles and aspirations of ordinary people, especially the poor and downtrodden.

However, her boss at the newspaper where she works is not interested in such sensitive topics and instead wants her to write sensational stories for higher sales. Tamanna's frustration grows as she is unable to express herself as a journalist, and she is disillusioned by the unethical practices in the media industry.

Meanwhile, Tamanna meets a compassionate doctor, Kunal (Sharad S. Kapoor) who runs a relief camp for a slum area in Mumbai. She is moved by his selfless service to the poor and gradually falls in love with him. However, Kunal has a dark past that he has been hiding from Tamanna.

On the other hand, Tamanna's father (Paresh Rawal) is a proud and conservative patriarch who believes in traditional values and opposes his daughter's liberal ideas. He disapproves of her working late hours, wearing modern clothes, and having a boyfriend outside her community. Tamanna's father also has a long-standing feud with their neighbour, who belongs to a lower caste, and this creates tension in their community.

As the story progresses, Tamanna faces several challenges, both personal and professional. She strives to reconcile her father's expectations with her own identity, fights against corruption and injustice in the media, and uncovers Kunal's past secret. In doing so, she learns valuable lessons about love, family, and social responsibility.

Tamanna is a poignant film that deals with themes of social inequality, journalistic ethics, and personal growth. Paresh Rawal's portrayal of a stern but loving father is commendable, while Pooja Bhatt delivers a nuanced performance as a determined and conflicted journalist. Sharad S. Kapoor brings depth and emotion to his character of a tormented doctor. The film's music, composed by Anu Malik, is also noteworthy for its soulful melodies and meaningful lyrics.

Overall, Tamanna is a thought-provoking and heartwarming film that leaves a lasting impact on the viewer. Its message of compassion and empathy is relevant even today and makes it a timeless classic.
