Tabaahi - The Destroyer is a 1999 Hindi action film, directed by Gopi Sapru and starring Mithun Chakraborty, Divya Dutta, Neelu Hasan and Vinod Tripathi in key roles. The film revolves around an ex-convict, who turns a new leaf in life but is pulled back into his old ways when he is forced to take revenge against a corrupt politician who murdered his family.
The film begins with Mithun Chakraborty, who plays the role of Ravi Verma, being released from prison after serving a 10-year sentence for a crime he did not commit. He returns to his village, where he finds out that his family was brutally murdered while he was serving time in prison. The culprit behind this heinous crime is a corrupt politician named Jagannath Singh, essayed by Vinod Tripathi. Ravi is devastated by the news of his family's death and vows to avenge their killing.
Ravi, a former gangster, is initially reluctant to take revenge as he has turned a new leaf and wants to live a peaceful life. However, he is soon forced to rethink his decision when he sees the sorry state of affairs in his village. The villagers are oppressed and vulnerable to the atrocities of the politicians and their henchmen. Ravi decides to take matters into his own hands and trains the villagers to fight against the corrupt politicians.
The film has several thrilling action sequences, with Mithun Chakraborty displaying his martial arts skills in hand-to-hand combat scenes. The film also has a romantic angle where Ravi falls in love with a village girl, essayed by Divya Dutta. However, their romance takes a backseat as Ravi is more focused on avenging his family's murder.
The film's music, composed by Dilip Sen and Sameer Sen, has some catchy numbers, including the foot-tapping 'Khaali Bottle' song, which became quite popular at the time of the film's release.
Mithun Chakraborty's performance as Ravi Verma is one of the highlights of the film. He brings a lot of energy and intensity to his portrayal of the character. His action scenes are well choreographed, and he pulls off some breathtaking stunts with ease. Divya Dutta, playing the love interest of Ravi, also delivers a solid performance, especially in emotional scenes.
Neelu Hasan, who plays Ravi's sister-in-law, also puts up a decent show. Vinod Tripathi, as the antagonist, is convincing in his role as a ruthless and corrupt politician.
Overall, Tabaahi - The Destroyer is a typical Bollywood masala entertainer with all the elements of action, drama, romance, and revenge. While the film isn't particularly original, it is a decent watch for fans of the genre. The film's runtime of 2 hours and 23 minutes may seem long, but the fast-paced narrative keeps the audience engaged throughout. If you're a fan of Mithun Chakraborty's action films, Tabaahi - The Destroyer is definitely worth a watch.
