Synchronicity is a sci-fi thriller movie from 2015 directed by Jacob Gentry. The plot revolves around a physicist named Jim Beale (played by Chad McKnight), who invents a time-traveling device called the 'Kronos'. He and his team are on the brink of testing the device when a beautiful woman named Abby (played by Brianne Davis) walks into Jim’s life, and he falls in love with her. But, as Jim delves deeper into the mysteries of the device and Abby, he realizes that the future he thought he knew may not be as it appears.

The film takes place in a dystopian future, where energy is scarce and the world is running out of resources. Jim’s breakthrough with the Kronos device could solve the world’s energy crisis by allowing energy to be extracted from the future. But when the tests don't go as planned, Jim is forced to make a decision about whether the risks are worth taking.

As Jim investigates the device further, he begins to encounter strange occurrences that happen in synchronicity with the device. He is convinced that he is on the brink of discovering something groundbreaking, but everyone around him thinks he’s crazy. One of the main themes of the film is how the pursuit of something that seems too good to be true can push us to the brink of madness.

The film’s serious tone is elevated by the performances of the cast. Chad McKnight is a convincing lead and portrays the complexity of his character’s trauma and determination with engaging naturalism. Brianne Davis’ portrayal of Abby is equally impressive; she brings a certain enigmatic quality to the role, which adds to the mystery of the film’s plot.

In addition to the strong performances, the film boasts impressive cinematography and visual effects. The production design is suitably gritty as well, giving the film a realistic sense of tonality. The film’s score is also noteworthy, as it adds to the suspenseful tone of the film while never overwhelming the visuals.

The concept of time-travel has been tackled many times in cinema. What sets Synchronicity apart is how the concept of the butterfly effect is presented. The butterfly effect is the theory that even small changes in the past can have profound effects on the future. The film makes it clear that the tiniest change can have drastic consequences, whether it be good or bad.

The film’s story is engaging and will keep you guessing until the very end. The mystery at the heart of Synchronicity keeps you engaged and leaves you pondering about the film long after it’s over. The film’s themes of betrayal, love, and sacrifice also resonate throughout and add depth to the satisfying story.

Overall, Synchronicity is a well-made and gripping sci-fi thriller that asks thought-provoking questions about the nature of time-travel and the consequences of time manipulation. The film’s strong performances, stunning visuals, and clever concept make it an intriguing watch for science fiction and thriller fans alike.

Synchronicity is a 2016 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 40 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.5 and a MetaScore of 39.
