Switch is a French-Canadian film from 2011, directed by Frédéric Schoendoerffer. It follows the story of Sophie Malaterre, portrayed by Karine Vanasse, a young Parisian who lands a job translating for a wealthy tech company in Tokyo. Shortly after arriving, Sophie discovers that her predecessor, a man named Jacques (played by Mehdi Nebbou), has died under suspicious circumstances, and she becomes embroiled in a dangerous plot to steal highly valuable and secretive information from the company.

Along the way, Sophie meets and enlists the help of a former soccer star turned private investigator, played by Eric Cantona. Together, they uncover a web of deceit and intrigue that takes them from the high-tech world of a Tokyo corporation to the dark alleys of the city's criminal underworld.

One of the central themes of Switch is the relationship between technology and morality. The tech company that Sophie works for is developing a highly sophisticated AI, which prompts Sophie to question the ethical implications of creating technology that can think and act on its own. Meanwhile, the villains of the film use technology to carry out their nefarious plans, highlighting the potential for misuse and abuse of advanced technology.

The relationship between Sophie and her translator predecessor, Jacques, is also a major plot point in Switch. Sophie becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth behind Jacques' death, and in doing so, she discovers that he was much more than just a translator. Jacques was deeply involved in the company's AI research, and his death may have been linked to the very technology he helped create.

In addition to its thought-provoking themes and suspenseful plot, Switch also features strong performances from its cast. Karine Vanasse is particularly impressive as Sophie, bringing depth and complexity to her character's journey. Eric Cantona, known primarily for his career as a professional soccer player, proves himself to be a capable actor as well.

Overall, Switch is a compelling thriller that explores the intersection of technology, morality, and corporate greed. With its intriguing plot, strong performances, and underlying themes, the film is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Switch is a 2011 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 44 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.3.
