Surf's Up is a hilarious animated mockumentary from 2007 that follows the life of a young penguin named Cody Maverick (voiced by Shia LaBeouf). Cody was born and raised in Shiverpool, a small town in Antarctica where surfing was not only unheard of but condemned. Despite this, Cody grew up with a passion for surfing, and he spent most of his childhood studying the sport and practicing on homemade boards. Cody dreamed of surfing in the most famous competition of them all, the Big Z Memorial Surf Off, which is held in the tropical paradise of Pen Gu Island.

Sensing that Cody possesses the talent to become a champion surfer, a talent scout named Tank Evans (voiced by Diedrich Bader) discovers Cody and invites him to compete in the Big Z Memorial Surf Off.

Cody jumps at the opportunity and leaves his hometown with newfound excitement and hope. On his way to Pen Gu Island, he meets a chicken surfer named Chicken Joe (voiced by Jon Heder), who quickly becomes his best friend.

Once they arrive on Pen Gu Island, Cody and Chicken Joe find themselves amongst the world's most elite surfers, including the reigning champion, Tank Evans.

Cody's dreams are quickly dashed when he learns that the legendary surfer and innovator Big Z (voiced by Jeff Bridges) has died. The Big Z is the one who inspired Cody to surf in the first place, and Cody had idolized him his whole life.

While struggling with Big Z's death and feeling out of his league, Cody meets a beautiful lifeguard named Lani (voiced by Zooey Deschanel). Lani helps him regain his confidence and gives him valuable advice on how to improve his surfing.

Determined to succeed, Cody takes on Tank Evans, the reigning champion, and learns some valuable lessons along the way. As the competition heats up, Cody discovers that there is more to surfing than just winning, and he learns the true meaning of friendship and perseverance.

Surf's Up is a wonderfully fun movie that is filled with surfing action and humor. The filmmakers take a unique approach by presenting the story as a mockumentary, with interviews and behind-the-scenes footage of the penguins' world.

The animation is superb, and the characters are charming and full of personality. The surfing scenes are exciting and drawn in a way that captures the thrill and beauty of the sport. The sound design is also excellent, with great music and sound effects that add to the sensory experience.

Overall, Surf's Up is a delightful movie that is perfect for audiences of all ages. It's a heartwarming story about chasing your dreams, making friends, and discovering the true meaning of success. It's a must-see for anyone who loves surfing, penguins, or just a good laugh.
