Superchondriac is a French comedy film released in 2014 and directed by Dany Boon. The movie revolves around the life of Romain Faubert, played by Dany Boon, a man who is extremely hypochondriac and paranoid about his own health. The film address social prejudices towards harzards and its effects on persons. The movie begins with Romain Faubert going to several different doctors for various imaginary symptoms, which results in him always waiting for a diagnosis that never comes. His fears and anxiety around getting sick make him anxious to the point of obsession. Despite having a loving family, he is constantly worried about his health and his hypochondria makes him alienate himself from others, especially his girlfriend who eventually leaves him.

He then meets Dr. Dimitri Zvenka, played by Kad Merad, who is also from France but has moved to Russia to avoid paying taxes. Dr. Dimitri specializes in treating wealthy hypochondriacs who will do anything to get better, including paying a lot of money for ineffective treatments. When Romain hears about Dr. Dimitri and his approach, he immediately wants to become his patient.

Dr. Dimitri agrees to treat Romain but on the condition that he comes to Russia and lives with him for a while. The thought of leaving his own country and going to Russia terrifies Romain but he eventually agrees to it. Once in Russia, Romain undergoes a series of unconventional treatments in a hospital that Dr. Dimitri has set up for his wealthy clients.

During his stay in Russia, Romain meets Anna, played by Alice Pol, who works as a translator for Dr. Dimitri. Anna takes a liking to Romain and helps him adapt to the culture and language of Russia. Romain, in turn, starts to develop feelings for Anna but is too afraid to tell her due to his hypochondria.

As the film progresses, we see Romain’s hypochondria gradually decrease as he spends time in Russia and starts to embrace a different lifestyle. However, things become complicated when he learns that Dr. Dimitri has a hidden agenda and has been using him and his fellow patients for his own financial gain. This knowledge comes as a shock to Romain and he decides to take matters into his own hands to expose Dr. Dimitri’s fraudulent ways.

Overall, Superchondriac is a lighthearted comedy that effectively portrays the life of a hypochondriac. The film’s themes of health anxiety, culture shock, and personal growth are explored in an entertaining and engaging manner.
