Super is a 2010 comedy-drama superhero film which stars Rainn Wilson, Elliot Page, and Liv Tyler. The story revolves around a man named Frank Darbo who is a fry cook by profession but dreams of doing something great with his life. Frank's life is turned upside down when his wife, Sarah, is seduced by a sleazy drug dealer named Jacques. Devastated and consumed by rage, Frank decides to channel his anger by becoming a superhero called "The Crimson Bolt."

Frank is an unlikely superhero, lacking the physical prowess and agility of most comic book heroes. Once he dons his homemade red costume and wields his pipe wrench, The Crimson Bolt sets out to rid the city of crime and make Jacques pay for what he's done to Sarah. Along the way, Frank teams up with a young comic book store employee named Libby (Elliot Page) who becomes his sidekick and alter ego, "Boltie."

Despite the film's initial lighthearted tone, Super quickly takes a dark turn as Frank's vigilante justice becomes increasingly violent and dangerous. The film explores the ramifications of vigilantism, asking questions about the line between justice and revenge, and the psychological toll of taking the law into one's own hands.

Rainn Wilson delivers an outstanding performance as Frank, playing the character with equal parts humor, empathy, and intensity. Elliot Page, who was then still credited as Ellen Page, is equally impressive as the young and enthusiastic Libby. Liv Tyler also delivers a solid performance as Sarah, Frank's estranged wife.

The film's visual style is reminiscent of classic comic book art, with bright colors and bold graphics. Director James Gunn balances the film's violent action scenes with dark humor and thoughtful character development. Though the film's message is ultimately quite dark, it's delivered with a ton of wit and tons of laughs.

While Super may not be for everyone due to its graphic violence and mature themes, it remains a compelling and well-crafted piece of cinema. The film takes a unique approach to the superhero genre, exploring the darker side of the vigilante archetype. Super is a film that will make you laugh, make you cringe, and make you think. It's a must-see for any fan of superhero movies or dark comedy.

Super is a 2010 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 36 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.7 and a MetaScore of 50.
