Sun Belt Express from 2014 is a comedy-drama film that tells the story of an illegal immigrant from Mexico named Allen King (Oscar Avila). Allen's life takes an unexpected turn when he is left with a large debt and no job by his boss after working for him for several years. Unable to pay the debt and at risk of being deported back to Mexico, Allen decides to find a way to make money fast.

One day, while driving his boss's car to the auto auction, he meets a group of people who are planning a road trip from Arizona to New York City. In an attempt to make some quick cash, Allen agrees to transport them illegally for a fee. Thus begins a wild adventure across the United States, as Allen and his passengers embark on a journey full of mishaps and unexpected situations.

His adventure begins with a group of retirees, each with their own ailments and baggage, wanting to live their golden years in New York City. Along with them is Christina (Ana de la Reguera), a nurse, who is in search of a fresh start in hopes of escaping her past life. Gus the African American bank robber and his friend Kai, the young Asian musician also come along for the ride to make a big score.

While facing unique problems such as broken vehicles, experiencing racism and run-ins with the police, Allen and his passengers nevertheless create a bond with each other as they journey onwards to their destination. The trip helps highlight and expose the unique, colorful personalities and backgrounds of each individual. As they travel through the sunbelt, they are forced to consider life, death, friendship, and love, and by the end of the trip, they have all evolved as individuals.

Apart from being a fun road-trip movie, Sun Belt Express tackles issues such as immigration, racism and medical care for the elderly. The film also puts a fresh spin on the idea of the American Dream, with the group of retirees looking to start a new life in their advanced age, and the film’s focus on the notion that it is the journey that is truly important rather than the destination.

The performances of the cast are impressive, each actor bringing their own unique take on their character, and displaying a well-crafted chemistry that enhances the overall experience of the film. Oscar Avila's portrayal of Allen King, in particular, stands out, bringing heart and humor to his character's struggle to provide for his family and himself.

With its blend of humor, drama, and heart, Sun Belt Express is a delightful journey that is worth taking. A fun, feel-good film that is perfect for a weekend afternoon, it manages to entertain while shedding light on important issues affecting our society today. The film directors break down psychological barriers and explore race, ethnicity, and background, making this movie appealing to audiences who are looking for more than just a standard comedy.

Sun Belt Express is a 2014 kids & family movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 31 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.2.
