However, Derrick's dreams come crashing down when he gets into a heated argument with a rival skateboarder, Eric Rodriguez (played by Ryan Dunn), at a local skate park. The argument turns physical, and Derrick accidentally causes Eric to fall and break his arm. As a result, Derrick is banned from all local skate parks and is forced to find a new place to hone his skills.

Determined to prove himself, Derrick sets his sights on the legendary Venice Beach Skate Park. He sneaks into the park after hours and impresses a group of skaters led by Rob Dyrdek (played by himself). The group offers to sponsor Derrick and help him achieve his dream of becoming a pro skater.

As Derrick's career takes off, he faces new challenges and temptations. He finds himself torn between his loyalty to his friends and his desire for fame and fortune. He also struggles to deal with his father's addiction and his own feelings of guilt over the accident that caused Eric's injury.

Throughout the film, the themes of friendship, perseverance, and redemption are interwoven with breathtaking skateboarding action. The movie also features cameos from professional skateboarders like Ryan Sheckler, Terry Kennedy, and Chris Cole.
