Watch Stray Dogs

Zahed and Gol-Ghotai are a brother and sister living in Kabul post-Taliban. Their mother has been imprisoned on a charge of infidelity, but they are able to stay with her in the jail every night as night prisoners. But suddenly the prison commander decrees that no more night prisoners will be allowed overnight visits, and the children must fend for themselves as homeless orphans in the dead of winter. In a misguided attempt to reunite with their mother, Zahad steals a bicycle, hoping to be sent to jail, but his arrest doesn't bring the results he expects.
