Srinivasa Kalyanam is a 1987 Telugu-language family drama film directed by Kodi Ramakrishna. Starring Mohan Babu, Bhanupriya, and Venkatesh Daggubati in the lead roles, the film revolves around the life of a young couple who face various challenges in their journey towards marriage. The story of the film starts with a young man named Satyam (Mohan Babu) who is a hard-working and honest employee in a textile factory. He falls in love with a girl named Subbalakshmi (Bhanupriya) who works as a school teacher. Subbalakshmi's father (Kota Srinivasa Rao) is a wealthy businessman who is against their marriage due to their difference in social status. Subbalakshmi's father wants his daughter to marry a wealthy and influential man, and not someone who works in a factory.
Despite their families' objections, Satyam and Subbalakshmi decide to get married. However, their happiness is short-lived as their families start creating problems for them. Satyam's mother (Sakshi Ranga Rao) is against their marriage as she believes that her son deserves a bride from a wealthy family, while Subbalakshmi's father tries to separate them by offering Satyam a huge amount of money.
The film takes a dramatic turn when Satyam's father (Chalapathi Rao) reveals a secret about his past that shocks everyone. Satyam's father was once a wealthy landlord who lost everything due to his bad habits, leaving his family in a state of poverty. Satyam's mother, who is ashamed of their past, is determined to erase their past and get her son married to a wealthy girl.
Satyam, who is torn between his love for Subbalakshmi and his mother's wishes, finds himself in a dilemma. He decides to leave his factory job and start a new business to prove himself to his mother and win her approval. He becomes successful in his new venture and wins the hearts of his mother and Subbalakshmi's father.
The film also includes a parallel track of Venkatesh Daggubati's character, who plays the role of a young man named Srinivas. Srinivas is a wealthy and carefree person who falls in love with a girl named Padma (Gouthami). Unlike Satyam and Subbalakshmi, Srinivas and Padma's families are supportive of their relationship. However, their happiness is short-lived as Padma's father gets into trouble with a local goon and asks Srinivas to save him. Srinivas agrees to help, but this decision leads to a series of events that threatens to jeopardize his relationship with Padma.
The film's climax revolves around Satyam and Subbalakshmi's wedding, where all the misunderstandings are cleared and the families come together to celebrate their union. The film ends on a happy note, with Satyam and Subbalakshmi starting their new life together.
Overall, Srinivasa Kalyanam is a heartwarming family drama that explores the complexities of love and relationships. The film is a must-watch for lovers of Telugu cinema and is considered a classic in the industry. The performances of the lead actors, along with the melodious music and beautiful cinematography, make this film a treat for the senses.
