In the 1943 Western musical film, Song of Texas, Roy Rogers plays a dual role of a famous singing cowboy named Roy Rogers and his lookalike cousin, Dave. The movie was directed by Joseph Kane and produced by Edward J. White. The story begins when the wealthy rancher Dan Stafford Sr. dies, leaving behind his daughter Anne and his son Dan Jr. a large ranch. However, the greedy and conniving Dan Jr., played by Paul Kelly, wants to sell the ranch to a group of businessmen who plan to use it for mining.

Anne Stafford, played by Sheila Ryan, is opposed to the idea of selling the ranch and wants to keep it in the family. Meanwhile, Roy Rogers is hired as a cowboy on the ranch and is surprised to see his doppelganger Dave, who is equally surprised to see him. Dave is a famous singer who has given up his career and is now living on the ranch.

Roy and Dave switch places to confuse the villains who want to buy the ranch. Roy pretends to be Dave, and Dave pretends to be Roy. In the process, Roy falls in love with Anne but is unable to declare his love to her as she thinks he is his cousin Dave. However, their schemes hit a snag when Roy is kidnapped by the villains, who realize the deception.

Trigger, Roy's horse, also has a significant role in the movie as he saves Roy from danger multiple times. Trigger was an integral part of many of Rogers' movies, and Song of Texas was no exception.

The movie features several excellent musical performances by Rogers, including "Song of the San Joaquin," "Ride, Ride, Ride," and "Lonely Little Cabin." His smooth voice and excellent guitar playing add to the musical quality of the movie. In one scene, Rogers performs a duet with Sheila Ryan, highlighting the romantic subplot of the movie.

The movie is filled with action sequences, including a chase scene on horseback, a fight scene on a runaway wagon, and a final showdown where Roy and the villains face off.

Overall, Song of Texas is an entertaining Western musical that showcases Roy Rogers' talent as a singer and actor. The movie has all the elements of a classic Western movie, including a hero, a damsel in distress, and villains plotting to take over land. The addition of music adds a unique dimension to the movie, making it an excellent watch for fans of both Westerns and musicals alike.

Song of Texas is a 1943 action movie with a runtime of 53 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.0.
