Some Kind of a Nut is a light-hearted comedy film from 1969 that stars Dick Van Dyke in the lead role. The film follows the story of Fred Amidon (played by Van Dyke), a successful banker who has a unique hobby of dressing up as a nutcracker in his spare time. Fred's life takes a turn when he gets involved in a series of events that lead him on a crazy adventure in New York City.

The film starts with Fred's wife, Liz (played by Rosemary Forsyth), wanting to go on a vacation to Europe. However, Fred declines because he is saving up money to buy a new hot rod. This leads to a fight between the two, which causes Fred to go out and buy a new car, against Liz's wishes. The car turns out to be a lemon and Fred decides to sue the dealership.

However, things take a turn for the worse when Fred gets involved in a car accident with a woman named Valerie (played by Angie Dickinson). Valerie is a divorced mother of three children who is struggling to make ends meet. In an effort to help Valerie, Fred invites her and her children to stay at his mansion while their home gets repaired.

As the story progresses, Fred's unusual hobby of dressing up as a nutcracker is revealed to Valerie and her children. Initially, they are bewildered by Fred's odd behavior, but eventually come around to it. Meanwhile, Fred's wife Liz finds out about Valerie and her children living in their mansion and decides to come back home to confront her husband.

As the film goes on, Fred finds himself in a series of comedic situations, including trying to sell his mansion for a dollar, getting involved in a bank robbery, and even getting arrested. However, with the help of Valerie and her children, Fred is able to get out of trouble and find a newfound appreciation for his hobby.

Overall, Some Kind of a Nut is a fun and entertaining film that showcases the great comedic talent of Dick Van Dyke. The chemistry between Van Dyke and Angie Dickinson is delightful, and the film's message about embracing one's quirks is a positive one. The film's lighthearted tone and silly scenarios make it an enjoyable watch for those looking for a good family movie.
