Solid State is a 2012 science-fiction movie directed by Stefano Milla and written by Tony Trov and Johnny Zito. The movie is set in Philadelphia in the year 2024, where life seems to be run by technology. The world is ruled by a powerful corporation called the Thebelian Industries. The corporation has succeeded in creating a massive global network, providing free Wi-Fi to everyone, which is called as the Grid. The Grid is a network that has the ability to control everything and everyone connected to it.
The movie revolves around a scientist named Lily (Ava Brunini), who is working on a secret project. She has invented a device that can bypass the Grid and communicate with other devices outside of it. The motive behind her project is to free humanity from the clutches of Thebelian Industries.
However, her plans get thwarted when the corporate giant discovers her invention. Thebelian Industries quickly gets its hands on her invention, and Lily is forced to retreat from her lab. She is on the run when she stumbles upon the journalist, Alex (Debbie Rochon). Alex is a reporter who specializes in exposing the wrongdoings of the corporation. They both team up to stop the corporation from using Lily's invention to control humanity.
Meanwhile, Thebelian Industries tries to silence Alex and henchman are sent after her. She manages to escape and goes on the run with the help of an underground group called the Resistance, of which she becomes a member. The Resistance is a group of activists, hackers, and rebels who are also fighting against the corporation.
Vivica A. Fox, a well-known actress, plays the badass leader of the Resistance. Her character is named Halcyon, and she is a tough-as-nails leader who will do anything to save humanity from the corporation's grasp. Halcyon is a veteran of the war against the corporation, and her experience makes her one of the most valuable allies in the fight against Thebelian Industries.
Overall, Solid State is an entertaining movie that explores the effects of technology on society. It portrays a bleak future where technology controls every aspect of life, and a massive corporation has the power to rule the world. The movie may not have the best acting or special effects, but it's a gripping story that keeps you invested until the end.
The film takes an interesting approach to the future by following a story that is increasingly plausible with every technological advancement. The characters are likable, and the story keeps up a frenetic pace as it progresses. Viewers may not come away from it feeling particularly enriched or enlightened, but they will certainly be entertained. Fans of sci-fi movies looking for an entertaining and well-constructed storyline will enjoy Solid State.
