Soldier Boyz is a 1995 action thriller that stars Michael Dudikoff, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, and Tyrin Turner. Directed by Louis Morneau, it tells the story of a group of criminals who are recruited by a U.S. Army officer to carry out a seemingly impossible mission - infiltrating a jungle compound controlled by a drug lord and rescuing hostages who are being held captive there.

The movie begins with a bang, as a group of masked gunmen stage a bank robbery and take hostages. Among the hostages is a former Marine, Lieutenant Joe Armstrong (Dudikoff), who soon shows his martial arts skills by taking down one of the robbers. Back at the Army base, Armstrong is lauded as a hero by his fellow soldiers, but he becomes restless and bored with military life, longing for a more exciting challenge.

Meanwhile, the Army is disheartened by its lack of progress against the Central American drug cartels, and in desperation, a plan is hatched to recruit a group of convicts to carry out a mission that regular soldiers cannot. The prisoners are led by Tagawa's character, a ruthless killer named Toliver who has been offered a pardon in exchange for his services. The group is given the name "Soldier Boyz," and they are trained by Armstrong to carry out the dangerous mission.

After parachuting into the jungle, the team's true purpose is revealed to them - to rescue a kidnapped American ambassador who has been taken hostage by a drug lord named Santiago (Joey Sagal). Santiago is a vicious man who rules his jungle fortress with an iron fist, and has no qualms about torturing or killing anyone who crosses him. With the odds stacked against them, the Soldier Boyz must fight their way through the compound and rescue the hostages before it's too late.

The movie is filled with action-packed scenes of gunfire, hand-to-hand combat, and explosions. There are plenty of twists and turns along the way, as the team faces obstacles ranging from booby traps to double-crossing team members. One standout scene involves a tense standoff between Armstrong and Santiago, as the two adversaries face off in a game of psychological warfare.

The acting in Soldier Boyz is solid, with Dudikoff delivering a typically stoic performance as the leader of the team. Tagawa, as always, excels at playing a villain, infusing Toliver with a sense of menace and cunning. The supporting cast is also impressive, with Turner standing out as a hotheaded member of the team who clashes with Armstrong.

Overall, Soldier Boyz is an enjoyable action movie that delivers plenty of thrills and excitement. While it may be somewhat formulaic in its plot and characters, it makes up for it with its intense action scenes and solid performances. Fans of the genre will find plenty to enjoy here, and it's a must-see for anyone who loves a good old-fashioned shoot-em-up.

Soldier Boyz is a 1995 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.3.
