This movie tells the life story of Sofya Kovalevskaya who was the first woman to become a member of the Russian Academy of Science. She was able to earn her PhD in math which was unheard of for a woman at this time. She was denied entry to the Russian University at first and had to study elsewhere. The viewer will get to see the discrimination Sofya faced because she was a woman.
