In the movie Sleight, Jacob Latimore plays Bo, a street magician who is struggling to make ends meet while taking care of his younger sister Tina (Storm Reid) after the death of their mother. Bo uses his "sleight of hand" skills to perform card tricks and other illusions on the streets of Los Angeles, hoping to earn enough money to pay his bills and keep the lights on. He also spends his free time tinkering with electronics and trying to build a device that will provide free electricity to the people in his neighborhood.

Things become more complicated for Bo when he meets Holly (Seychelle Gabriel), a charismatic and beautiful girl who he immediately becomes infatuated with. However, he soon discovers that Holly has ties to a dangerous group of drug dealers, led by a man named Angelo (Dulé Hill), who want Bo to use his magic skills to help them pull off a daring heist.

As Bo becomes more involved with Holly and Angelo's operation, he finds himself in over his head, navigating a world of crime and danger that he never expected to be a part of. He must use all of his wits and skills to outsmart his enemies, protect his sister, and ultimately find a way to escape their clutches.

One of the things that sets Sleight apart from other crime dramas is its use of magic and illusion as a central theme. Bo's skills as a magician not only provide him with a source of income, but also serve as a metaphor for the power of illusion in everyday life. The film explores how we use deception and misdirection to create our own reality, and how easily we can be fooled by those who are more skilled in these arts.

Another standout aspect of Sleight is its emphasis on character development. Both Bo and Holly are complex, multi-dimensional characters who are struggling to find their place in the world. Bo is a sympathetic protagonist who is easy to root for, despite his involvement in criminal activities, while Holly's motivations are murky and unclear, making her a captivating and unpredictable presence on screen.

The film also boasts strong performances from its cast, particularly Jacob Latimore as Bo. Latimore brings a sense of vulnerability and sincerity to the role, making Bo a relatable and believable character. Seychelle Gabriel is also excellent as Holly, conveying both her charm and her danger with ease.

Overall, Sleight is a gripping and engaging crime drama that is elevated by its use of magic and illusion as a narrative device. With strong performances and a well-developed plot, it is a film that is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Sleight is a 2017 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 29 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.9 and a MetaScore of 62.
