Matt Pandamiglio (Mike Birbiglia) is a struggling stand-up comedian with a dead-end job in a bar where he mostly talks to himself. He has a passion for comedy, but he has trouble finding his voice and delivering a good performance. He also has a long-term girlfriend, Abby (Lauren Ambrose), who wants to take their relationship to the next level by getting married, but he's not ready for that.

Matt also has a sleep disorder called rapid eye movement behavior disorder (RBD), which causes him to act out his dreams while he's asleep. He often hallucinates that he's fighting off wild animals or jumping out of windows, and he's badly hurt himself several times as a result.

As Matt's professional and personal life start to unravel, he's forced to confront his fears and take control of his destiny. He decides to take his comedy on the road, even though he's never done a proper stand-up gig before. He also breaks up with Abby so that he can focus on his career, but he soon realizes that he misses her and that he needs her support to succeed.

Throughout the movie, Matt struggles to balance his career aspirations with his personal relationships, his sleep disorder, and his own insecurities. He faces rejection, humiliation, and self-doubt, but he also learns to take risks and to be true to himself.

Sleepwalk with Me is a semi-autobiographical movie based on Mike Birbiglia's own experiences as a struggling comedian and as a sufferer of RBD. The movie is directed by Birbiglia and Seth Barrish, and it features performances by several notable actors, including Lauren Ambrose as Abby, James Rebhorn as Matt's father, and Carol Kane as Matt's mother.

The movie is shot in a naturalistic style with handheld cameras, which gives it a documentary-like feel. The dialogue is witty and realistic, and there's a strong sense of humor throughout the film, even when the subject matter is serious.

Sleepwalk with Me is a poignant, funny, and insightful movie that explores the humor and tragedy of pursuing one's dreams, and the challenges of maintaining relationships in the face of adversity. It's a movie that will resonate with anyone who has ever struggled to find their place in the world or to overcome their own limitations.

Despite the heavy subject matter, Sleepwalk with Me is also an uplifting and entertaining movie that will leave viewers feeling inspired and hopeful. It's a testament to the power of comedy to help us deal with life's difficulties and to find joy in the journey.

Sleepwalk with Me is a 2012 comedy. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.7 and a MetaScore of 71.
