Watch Sleep Dealer

Written and directed by Alex Rivera and starring Luis Fernando Peña, Leonor Varela and Jacob Vargas, Sleep Dealer is a thrilling science fiction drama set in futuristic Mexico. Memo Cruz (Peña) is a factory worker or sleep dealer; he connects to a series of cables hooked up to nodes across his shoulders and back which allow him to control robots that are now the unskilled labor over the border in the US. However, just like their forebears, if they work too long, even by proxy like this, they will collapse from exhaustion, hence the moniker "sleep dealer."

Memo became embroiled in this trade as a result of his love of computers and the collapse of his father's farm at home. With the promise of a better life he is sold on the occupation; however he still pursues his own hobbies of electronics building and hacking. Unfortunately these same hobbies attract the attention of the dystopian police forces and he narrowly avoids being attacked while accessing the system. Memo must go further into the system using his skills and those of his friends in order to save their lives.

Sleep Dealer is a 2008 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.0 and a MetaScore of 59.
