Skin Game is a western comedy movie from 1971 that follows the story of two con artists, Quincy Drew and Jason O'Rourke, who are both trying to escape from their pasts by pulling off the biggest heist of their careers - selling a slave to a wealthy plantation owner in Missouri. The movie stars James Garner as Quincy Drew, Louis Gossett Jr. as Jason O'Rourke, and Susan Clark as Ginger.
The movie starts by introducing Quincy Drew and Jason O'Rourke, two men who have been traveling together for years and making their living by tricking people out of their money. One day, they come across a young slave named Picard, who has just been sold by his previous owner. Feeling sorry for him, they decide to buy him and use him in their next big con job.
Their plan is simple: they will pose as slave traders and travel to Missouri to sell Picard to a wealthy plantation owner. But as they make their way to Missouri, they run into several obstacles, including a group of vigilantes who want to hang them for being slave traders and a sheriff who wants to arrest them for stealing horses.
Despite these obstacles, Quincy and Jason manage to reach Missouri and sell Picard to the plantation owner. But things start to go wrong when they realize that Picard is actually a free man and that they have just sold him into slavery. To make things worse, the plantation owner turns out to be a con artist himself, and he refuses to pay Quincy and Jason for Picard.
Now, Quincy and Jason are forced to come up with a new plan to get their money back and set Picard free. They team up with Ginger, a beautiful gambler who has a grudge against the plantation owner, and together they hatch a wild scheme to outsmart the plantation owner and his henchmen.
Throughout the movie, there are plenty of comedic moments as Quincy and Jason try to wriggle their way out of trouble and come up with new cons to stay ahead of the game. There are also some dramatic moments when the characters are faced with serious danger or have to confront their own moral dilemmas.
Overall, Skin Game is an entertaining western comedy that combines humor, action, and drama in a unique and enjoyable way. The performances by James Garner, Louis Gossett Jr., and Susan Clark are all excellent, and the movie has a strong sense of period detail that transports the viewer back to the time of slavery in the US. If you're looking for a fun and engaging movie with a lot of heart, Skin Game is definitely worth checking out.
