Sinister 2 is a horror movie released in 2015, directed by Ciaran Foy and starring James Ransone, Shannyn Sossamon, and Robert Daniel Sloan. The movie is a sequel to the 2012 film Sinister and follows the same premise of a supernatural force that terrorizes a family. The movie starts with a prologue that sets the tone for what is to come. The prologue takes place in 1966 and shows a family being brutally murdered by a group of masked men. The only survivor of the attack is a young girl named Bughuul.

The movie then shifts to the present day and introduces us to Courtney Collins (Shannyn Sossamon), a single mother who moves into a rural farmhouse with her two sons, Dylan and Zach (Robert Daniel Sloan). Courtney is running away from her abusive husband, and she hopes that the move will give her and her children a fresh start.

However, the family soon discovers that the house has a dark history. It was the site of multiple killings, and Bughuul, the demon from the prologue, has been using it as a gateway to the world of the living. Bughuul's plan is to possess young children and make them commit acts of violence, which he records and adds to his collection of "home movies."

The family's troubles start when Dylan (Robert Daniel Sloan), the younger son, starts seeing ghosts of the murdered children from the past. The ghosts are led by a boy named Milo, who convinces Dylan to watch the "home movies" that Bughuul has left behind. As Dylan falls deeper into Bughuul's trap, his behavior becomes increasingly erratic, and he starts to exhibit the same violent tendencies as the possessed children.

Meanwhile, a former sheriff's deputy named So-and-So (James Ransone), who investigated the murders from the previous movie, is tracking down Bughuul's whereabouts. So-and-So believes that he can stop the demon's reign of terror by burning down the houses where the murders took place, erasing any trace of Bughuul's presence.

As the movie progresses, the tension builds up, and the family's situation becomes more precarious. Courtney and Zach must find a way to save Dylan before it's too late, and So-and-So must face his demons and confront Bughuul head-on.

The movie's strength lies in its atmosphere, which is suitably creepy and unsettling. The use of jump scares is effective but not overdone, and the movie relies more on building a sense of dread rather than gore or excessive violence.

The performances are also top-notch, with James Ransone giving a standout performance as the determined but flawed hero. Shannyn Sossamon and Robert Daniel Sloan also do an excellent job in their roles, creating a believable family dynamic that's easy to invest in.

Overall, Sinister 2 is a solid horror movie that delivers on scares and atmosphere. While not perfect, it's a worthy sequel that expands on the mythology established in the previous movie. Fans of the horror genre should definitely check it out.
