Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is a 2014 neo-noir crime anthology film directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez. It is the sequel to the 2005 film Sin City, and is based on Miller's graphic novel of the same name. The film features an ensemble cast, including Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Josh Brolin, Eva Green, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The film is set in the fictional Basin City, a dark and corrupt metropolis filled with criminal underworlds and corrupt officials. It consists of several interlinked stories, with most of them being prequels to the events of the first film. The main story revolves around Dwight McCarthy (Josh Brolin), a private investigator who becomes entangled with Ava Lord (Eva Green), a femme fatale who manipulates him into helping her escape from her abusive husband. However, Dwight soon realizes that he has been set up and must fight for his life.

The movie begins with a prologue featuring Marv (Mickey Rourke), a tough, violent loner who is haunted by his past. The story then shifts to the first main tale, "Just Another Saturday Night," which takes place before the events of the first film. Marv wakes up in the middle of the street, with no memory of how he got there. He then goes on a violent rampage to find out what happened to him, encountering several familiar faces along the way.

The second story, "The Long Bad Night," follows Johnny (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a cocky gambler who challenges the corrupt Senator Roark (Powers Boothe) to a high-stakes poker game. Johnny wins big, but soon discovers that the Senator plays dirty, and he must fight to survive.

The third story, "A Dame to Kill For," is the main one, and follows Dwight McCarthy as he falls for the seductive Ava Lord, a mysterious figure from his past who lures him into helping her escape from her abusive husband. However, as he gets deeper into the situation, Dwight realizes that he has been set up and must fight for his life.

The final tale, "Nancy's Last Dance," follows Nancy Callahan (Jessica Alba), a stripper who is haunted by the death of John Hartigan (Bruce Willis), the cop who saved her from the clutches of Senator Roark in the first film. Nancy becomes obsessed with seeking revenge on Roark and will not rest until she gets it.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For features stunning visuals and a distinctive style, filmed almost entirely in black and white with splashes of color throughout. The movie is a faithful adaptation of Miller's graphic novel, staying true to the dark and violent nature of the source material.

The performances of the film's cast are also noteworthy, particularly Jessica Alba's portrayal of Nancy, who is given a much more substantial role than in the first movie. Eva Green is also a standout as Ava Lord, perfectly embodying the seductive and manipulative qualities of the character.

Overall, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is a solid sequel that expands upon the world of the original film while staying true to its gritty and violent roots. It may not live up to the high expectations set by the first movie, but it is an entertaining and visually stunning ride nonetheless.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is a 2014 crime movie. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.5 and a MetaScore of 46.
