Signed, Sealed, Delivered: From Paris with Love is a romantic comedy-drama film released in 2015. The movie follows the story of four lovable postal workers - Oliver OâToole (Eric Mabius), Shane McInerney (Kristin Booth), Rita Haywith (Crystal Lowe), and Norman Dorman (Geoff Gustafson) as they embark on a new international adventure.
In the opening scenes of the movie, Oliver receives a mysterious letter containing a letter opener from an anonymous sender. This intrigues him and he decides to investigate further. The team soon discovers that the letter and the decorative letter opener are from an old military pen pal of an American soldier who fought in the Second World War. The pen pal is now a 90-year-old Frenchwoman named Mathilde (Marion Ross). Mathilde used to correspond with the soldier and she now wants to reunite with him after all the years that have gone by.
As Oliver and his team work on discovering the identity of the soldier, they find themselves heading to France on a mission to find him. Things get complicated when they discover that the soldier had a son, who is also missing, and there is a bitter family feud going on between him and his sister. The team quickly becomes involved in the conflict and does their best to find the missing son all while trying to reunite Mathilde with her long lost love.
As the story progresses, Oliver becomes increasingly obsessed with finding the soldierâs son and reuniting Mathilde with her love. Shane, who has developed a romantic interest in Oliver over the course of the series, becomes increasingly worried about how much he is sacrificing for the mission. She confides in Rita, who has troubles of her own, and the two of them start to wonder if they should tell Oliver how they feel.
Aside from the main plotline, the movie also has several subplots that are weaved seamlessly into the overarching story. These subplots include Normanâs ongoing search for love, Shane dealing with the aftermath of her motherâs death, and Rita trying to reconnect with an old friend.
The film itself is beautifully shot and captures the essence of Paris. The Eiffel Tower, the Seine River, and Notre Dame all feature prominently in the story. The stunning backdrop of the French capital city adds to the romance, drama, and mystery of the film.
The cast of Signed, Sealed, Delivered: From Paris with Love is excellent. Eric Mabius, who plays Oliver, is perfectly cast as the team leader, obsessed with solving the mystery of the missing soldierâs son. Kristin Booth, who plays Shane, is the perfect foil for Mabius' character. She is strong, smart, and capable, yet she is also vulnerable and empathetic. The chemistry between Mabius and Booth is palpable and drives much of the filmâs tension.
Crystal Lowe, as Rita, is excellent as well. She brings depth and nuance to her character, and the subplot involving her friendship with a troubled woman is both poignant and moving. Geoff Gustafson, who plays Norman, is also excellent. His characterâs search for love is both charming and funny, and he provides a great source of levity in the film.
The filmâs pacing is excellent, and it manages to balance the romance, drama, and mystery elements of the story beautifully. Director Kevin Fair is a master at creating compelling narratives, and he does an excellent job with this film. The movie delivers a heartwarming, uplifting story that is sure to leave viewers feeling good.
