In this intense war film, when soldier James Shill returns home from World War II, he is never the same. He must face the new realities of civilian life. He attempts to adapt to his wife and children again, but finds that constant flashbacks and sad memories have made him depressed, angry, and even violent. In searching for a way to cure himself, he goes outside the realm of the law.
