Sharato Lagu is a 2018 Gujarati language romantic comedy film directed by Neeraj Joshi, produced by Aarti Patel and starring Malhar Thakar, Deeksha Joshi and Gopi Desai in lead roles. The movie was released on 19th October 2018 in India. The film revolves around the story of Satya (Malhar Thakar) and Saavi (Deeksha Joshi), two individuals who are worlds apart in terms of their background and upbringing. Satya is from a small town in Gujarat and is a typical boy next door, while Saavi is an NRI, born and raised in the United States.
Despite their differences, Satya and Saavi fall in love with each other and decide to get married. However, their respective families have different cultural values, and this is where the conflict arises. Satya's family, being traditional Gujaratis, want him to marry a girl who shares the same values and beliefs as them, while Saavi's family, being modern and liberal, believe in letting their children make their own decisions in life.
To resolve this issue, Satya and Saavi decide to elope and get married secretly without their families' knowledge. However, things go awry when Satya's family finds out about their marriage and are extremely furious. To make matters worse, Saavi forgets to tell Satya about her career aspirations, which creates a rift between the two.
What follows next is a rollercoaster ride of emotions and drama, as Satya and Saavi try to convince their families to accept their relationship and also try to come to terms with the differences between them.
The film beautifully portrays the dilemma faced by young couples in India when it comes to choosing their respective partners. It shows how love alone is not enough to sustain a marriage when cultural differences are involved. In a way, Sharato Lagu mirrors the societal change happening in India, where young couples are rebelling against age-old traditions and finding ways to make their relationship work.
The chemistry between Malhar Thakar and Deeksha Joshi is palpable, and they both bring their A-game to the table. Their performances are mature and nuanced, and they manage to capture the essence of their respective characters perfectly. Gopi Desai, who plays Satya's grandmother, is another highlight of the film, and her portrayal of a traditional grandmother torn between her culture and the love for her grandson is heartwarming.
The film's production values are top-notch, and the cinematography captures the scenic beauty of Gujarat perfectly. The music by Parth Bharat Thakkar is soulful, and the songs blend seamlessly into the narrative.
Overall, Sharato Lagu is a must-watch film for anyone who loves romantic comedies. It is entertaining, emotional, and thought-provoking, all at the same time. The film manages to strike a chord with the audience, and its message of love and understanding will stay with you long after the end credits roll.
