Shaolin Vs. Evil Dead is a martial arts action-comedy film starring martial arts master Gordon Liu. It was released in 2004 and was directed by Douglas Kung. The movie revolves around a group of students who are studying Kung Fu under a Shaolin master. During their training, they encounter an Evil Dead who is out to destroy them all.
The story begins with a Kung Fu master named Shi Yu who has been meditating for years in the mountains. He has achieved enlightenment and decides to return to the Shaolin Temple to impart his wisdom to the disciples there. He brings with him a secret scroll that contains powerful Kung Fu techniques that have been lost for centuries.
Upon his arrival at the temple, he finds that the students are not interested in learning the traditional Kung Fu techniques, preferring instead to focus on modern-day combat styles. Disappointed, Shi Yu decides to leave the temple and return to the mountains.
However, before he can leave, he is attacked by an Evil Dead who seeks to steal the secret scroll. Shi Yu manages to defeat the Evil Dead but dies in the process. The scroll is lost and the Evil Dead escapes.
The news of Shi Yu's death and the lost scroll spreads quickly, and eventually, it reaches the Shaolin Temple. The students realize the importance of the scroll and vow to retrieve it at all costs. However, they soon find out that the Evil Dead is not the only one after the scroll.
A group of bandits, led by the ruthless General Muyong, also seeks to obtain the powerful techniques contained in the scroll. The students soon find themselves caught in a battle between the Evil Dead and General Muyong's bandits. In the midst of this chaos, the students must also deal with their own personal issues and conflicts.
The movie is filled with exciting fight scenes, featuring various Kung Fu techniques and weapons such as swords, spears, and nunchucks. The fight scenes are choreographed by Gordon Liu himself, who is a highly skilled martial artist and fight choreographer.
The movie also has comedic elements, with several humorous moments interspersed throughout the film. The comedy comes from the interactions between the students, who often bicker and argue but eventually learn to work together as a team.
