Septic Man is a Canadian horror movie directed by Jesse Thomas Cook, released in 2013. It features Jason David Brown as Jack, a man who agrees to be the last worker to investigate a contaminated water source, and becomes trapped inside the rotting sewage system. It also stars Molly Dunsworth as Shelley, Jack's wife and Julian Richings as The Plumber, a sinister figure that emerges from the deep.

The movie takes place in the small town of Collingwood, where an epidemic of illness related to a mysterious sewage backup has occurred. The local government has declared a state of emergency, and the affected residents are being relocated to a safe haven. The source of the contamination is unknown, and the sewage treatment plant is the only lead the authorities have. However, the situation is so dire that the workers at the plant have reached their limit, and no one seems to want to take on the job of investigating the problem.

This is where Jack comes in. He is an unemployed sanitation worker who needs the money to pay off his debt and provide for his family. When he is offered a job to investigate the sewage system beneath the town, he willingly takes the position, not knowing what he is getting himself into.

Jack descends into the sewage system, and although he initially believes he can handle the task, he soon realizes that the situation is much worse than he imagined. The system is in disarray, and the contamination seems to have a life of its own. He becomes trapped inside, and as the days go by, he slowly transforms into something else, something monstrous.

The movie is a visceral portrayal of the human condition in a dire situation. The characters are driven to their limits, and their reactions are believable, even if at times they may seem exaggerated. The mood is dark, but also punctuated by moments of absurdity that bring a levity to the intense atmosphere.

The acting in the movie is solid, with Jason David Brown delivering a convincing portrayal of a man pushed to the edge. Molly Dunsworth's role as Shelley is less prominent, but she is able to convey the sense of desperation that her character is feeling. Julian Richings, as The Plumber, is the standout performance in the movie, giving a creepy and chilling portrayal of a man that is as mysterious as he is malevolent.

The movie is not for the faint of heart, as it features scenes of extreme violence and gore. The special effects used to create the contaminated sewer system and the transformations that Jack undergoes are impressive, and add to the sense of horror.

Septic Man is a movie that will leave a lasting impression on viewers. It is a disturbing and intense horror movie that is not afraid to delve into the darker aspects of the human psyche. The movie's setting, a seemingly idyllic small town, adds to the feeling of betrayal and hopelessness that the characters experience. It is a must-watch movie for fans of the horror genre, and those who appreciate a well-crafted movie that is both horrifying and thought-provoking.

Septic Man is a 2014 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 23 minutes. It has received poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.1 and a MetaScore of 8.
