Saving My Baby is a 2018 American drama film that tells the story of Sarah Davis (Brianne Davis), a single mother who is in the midst of a custody battle with her ex-husband, Grant Davis (William R. Moses), over their daughter, Sophie (Rylie Behr). The film is directed by Michael Feifer and written by Michael Doneger, which calls on this story as being based on true events.

As the story sets in motion, Sarah is taking her daughter to the zoo when, for a brief second, the little girl goes missing. Panic sets in, and Sarah frantically searches for her daughter. Fortunately, Sophie is found, unharmed. But, from this moment, Sarah's life turns into a waking nightmare. Grant, who's eager to gain full custody of their daughter has a powerful weapon in his hand now. He accuses Sarah of being an unfit mother, as he alleges Sarah let Sophie wander off by herself.

Grant hires a lawyer of his own to strengthen his case against Sarah, who is challenged in court by the authority. They allege Sarah has been neglectful towards Sophie, and there's ample proof that the mother has mental-health issues. Soon enough, Sophie is taken away from Sarah and placed in the custody of her father. Sarah is devastated by the loss, but with the emotional support of her close friend, Becky (Tonya Kay), the mother will not give up without a fight.

Sarah finds herself with a new lead that could potentially overturn the court's decision in her favour. A breakthrough in Sophie's medical test results reveals that the 3-year-old girl has a rare genetic disorder that puts her life in danger. Sarah argues that her ex-husband did not inform her of the disease, which prompts the court to reopen the custody case. Sarah hires a lawyer, Geena (Kathleen Quinlan), to help her gain back the custody of her daughter.

What follows is Sarah's quest to unravel the mystery and solve the medical puzzle that could save Sophie's life. She discovers clues that lead her to a pharmaceutical company, which has formerly manufactured drugs that can cure Sophie's condition. But, there's a catch. The drugs are no longer in production, and the company reveals that they no longer have the patent rights to produce the life-saving medicine.

Sarah's journey doesn't end here. With the help of Geena and a supportive community, she fights against time and takes the matter to court. Their mission is to force the pharmaceutical company to manufacture the drugs for Sophie's case, and for the other children who have suffered the same plight of her daughter.

As the trial progresses, Sarah's relationship with her ex-husband gets tested frequently. It begs the question of whether they can put aside their differences and work towards saving Sophie's life together. Amidst all the tension and drama, Saving My Baby goes beyond the traditional family court battles and delves deeper into a story of love, care, and sacrifice. The film also touches on issues like medical malpractice, inadequate healthcare screening programmes, and parents' rights to make informed decisions for children's health care.

In conclusion, Saving My Baby offers a powerful narrative about a mother's enduring love for her child that leads her to fight against an unjust legal system, greedy pharmaceutical companies, and a bitter ex-husband. With a strong cast and heartfelt performances, this movie is an emotional rollercoaster that will leave you cheering for Sarah and Sophie.
