Sarkar is a 2005 Indian political thriller film directed by Ram Gopal Varma. The movie stars Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan as the protagonist Subhash Nagre alias Sarkar, who is a powerful and respected political figure in Mumbai's underbelly. Abhishek Bachchan plays Shankar Nagre, Sarkar's son, and Kay Kay Menon plays Vishnu, Sarkar's subordinate, who conspires against him.

The film revolves around the intricate network of power and politics in the city of Mumbai. Subhash Nagre, also known as Sarkar, is the uncrowned king of Mumbai's underworld. A man who has risen above the system and established his own rule, he commands respect and fear from all quarters. His family is the center of his life, and he will do anything to protect them.

When a young woman working for Sarkar is brutally raped and murdered, Sarkar vows to take revenge, and the political establishment is rattled. The chief minister, who has an uneasy relationship with Sarkar, uses this opportunity to try and take him down. His cabinet member, Vishnu, who harbors a personal vendetta against Sarkar, joins hands with the chief minister to plan his downfall.

The film's narrative is driven by the tension between Sarkar and Vishnu as their paths keep intersecting. The drama and intrigue escalate as the two battle for supremacy. The story also delves into the corrupt and murky world of politics, exposing the nexus between politicians, police, and the underworld.

He embodies the character's power, charisma, and vulnerabilities with ease, making the audience root for him even when he is shown to be morally ambiguous. Abhishek Bachchan also shines in his role as Shankar Nagre, Sarkar's son. He brings a youthful energy to the film, and his chemistry with Amitabh Bachchan is one of the highlights of the movie.
