Ravikumar, the film revolves around the life of Saravana (Silambarasan Rajendar) who tries hard to make ends meet for his family, but ends up getting into trouble time and again. The film opens with Saravana completing his engineering degree and returning to his hometown to find that his father has died, leaving behind a huge debt. Saravana is forced to take up a job as a sales executive at a women's college. He is also responsible for taking care of his family, especially his younger sister, who has a hearing impairment.

One day, Saravana meets Dr. Priya (Jyotika), a professor at the women's college where he works. They form a friendship that eventually blossoms into love. However, Priya is engaged to be married to a wealthy businessman, who happens to be the son of the person who holds Saravana's father's debt.

Meanwhile, Saravana gets into trouble after he fights a local goon who tries to molest one of the students at the college. The goon happens to be the brother of a powerful politician. Saravana is beaten up severely and left for dead. He survives but is forced to go into hiding. Meanwhile, his sister is kidnapped by the politician's men, who demand that Saravana pay back his father's debt in full.

Saravana decides to take things into his own hands and sets out to rescue his sister. He seeks the help of his friends and Dr. Priya. Together, they take on the politician and his men in a series of action-packed sequences. The film climaxes with a stunning fight sequence between Saravana and the politician's henchmen.
