Saratoga is a 1937 romantic comedy-drama starring Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, and Lionel Barrymore. The film tells the story of a horse owner named Duke Bradley (Gable) who falls in love with a singer named Carol Clayton (Harlow) while dealing with the death of his best friend and business partner, Tom (Frank Morgan). The film kicks off with Duke and Tom leading their horse, Broadway Bill, to victory in a horseracing competition. After the race, Tom reveals that he is terminally ill and asks Duke to take care of his daughter, who he has kept hidden from him. Duke promises to do so and carries on with his horse racing business.

Soon after, Duke visits a nightclub where he meets Carol, a singer who is performing at the club. The two hit it off and begin a relationship, despite the fact that she is engaged to one of Duke's rivals, Hartley Madison (Walter Pidgeon). Meanwhile, Duke's business is failing as he is struggling to find a sponsor for his horse, Broadway Bill.

As Duke's financial situation worsens, he begins to rely on gambling to make ends meet. He also tries to convince Carol to leave Madison and be with him instead. However, Carol is torn between her feelings for Duke and her loyalty to her fiancé.

Things come to a head when Tom's daughter arrives in town and it is revealed that she is engaged to Madison. Duke tries to prevent the marriage, fearing that Madison is only interested in her money. In the end, Duke and Carol are able to overcome the obstacles in their relationship, and Duke finally finds a sponsor for Broadway Bill, leading to success on the horse racing track.

One of the highlights of Saratoga is the chemistry between Gable and Harlow. The two had previously starred together in several other films, including Red Dust and Wife vs. Secretary, and their banter and on-screen romance is a delight to watch. Lionel Barrymore also adds depth to the film with his performance as the terminally ill Tom.

In addition to the strong performances, Saratoga also boasts some beautiful cinematography. The horse racing scenes are particularly impressive, with the camera capturing the speed and power of the horses as they thunder down the track.

Saratoga was Harlow's final film. She died during production, and several scenes had to be completed using her stand-in. Despite this tragedy, the film was a commercial success, grossing over $2 million at the box office.

Overall, Saratoga is a charming romantic comedy-drama with great performances, stunning visuals, and a compelling storyline. It is a must-see for fans of classic Hollywood cinema.
