He's in love with his former next door neighbor, Lori, who happens to be dating Isaac, a popular musician in the Orange County music scene. In short, he's everything that Allen isn't, which suddenly drives Allen to deeply absorb himself into his screenplay writing. By doing this, he deals with life on his terms. Fending off distractions, mainly friends who don't take him seriously, Allen thinks that his hard work has finally paid off when he gains some interest from a literary agency. He then meets and befriends Issac, and it is here that Allen's closed off world is turned upside down.
