Watch Saakar

Saakar is a story of a boy, Raju, who lives in a village with his mother, Janaki and his grandmother. Raju's passions - films and acting, are both forbidden pursuits for him. The story is set in the month of August, close to India's Independence Day celebrations when everyone has past heros on their minds; heroes who fought for their country's freedom. It narrates the various hopes and dreams of Janki for her son, expectations of the teachers at school for their students, and of Raju's friends. We see how hopes can be colored by past and impending disasters, by the faith and confidence that friends & family have in you, and finally by a much deeper almost subconscious urge for action - an act that can fulfill your hopes and dreams most unexpectedly.
