Tom Ripley (John Malkovich) is living a quiet life in Italy when he is approached by a former associate, Jonathan Trevanny (Dougray Scott), who needs help getting revenge on a Russian gangster who has recently insulted him. Despite being retired from his life of crime, Ripley is intrigued by the opportunity to help his friend and agrees to help Trevanny.

Ripley sets up an elaborate plan to frame the Russian gangster for a series of crimes, using Trevanny as the bait. As the plan unfolds, Ripley becomes increasingly involved in the operation, enjoying the high-stakes manipulation and thrill of the game. However, his actions have unintended consequences, and he soon finds himself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the Russian mob.

Along the way, Ripley finds himself drawn to Trevanny's wife, Sarah (Lena Headey), and begins to question his own motivations for getting involved in the scheme. As the tension between the characters escalates, the audience is left wondering who will come out on top in this high-stakes game of deception.

Based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith, Ripley's Game is a stylish and compelling thriller that explores the dark underbelly of the criminal world. John Malkovich delivers a compelling performance as the suave and sophisticated Tom Ripley, who is both charming and dangerous in equal measure.

Dougray Scott is also impressive as Jonathan Trevanny, a man whose desperation for revenge leads him down a dangerous path. The chemistry between the two actors is electric, and their interactions are full of tension and intrigue.

Lena Headey rounds out the cast as Sarah Trevanny, a woman caught in the middle of a dangerous game of revenge. Despite being a relatively small role, Headey manages to make a strong impression and brings a sense of vulnerability and depth to the character.

Director Liliana Cavani does an excellent job of bringing the story to life, creating a world that is both stylish and sinister. The cinematography is stunning, capturing the beauty of Italy while also highlighting the darkness lurking just beneath the surface.

Overall, Ripley's Game is a gripping thriller that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats. With strong performances, stylish visuals, and a compelling storyline, it is a must-see for fans of the genre.
