Riding Shotgun is a classic Western movie from 1954 directed by André De Toth and starring Randolph Scott, Wayne Morris and Joan Weldon. The movie tells the story of a man named Larry Delong (Wayne Morris) who is falsely accused of a crime and subsequently becomes a target for a vicious gang of outlaws. The movie begins with Larry Delong traveling on a stagecoach through the rugged terrain of the Wild West. Little does he know that a group of outlaws have plans to rob the stagecoach and frame him for the crime. However, before they can carry out their plan, the stagecoach is ambushed by a group of vigilantes who have been hunting the gang for some time. In the ensuing shootout, several men are killed and Larry is taken into custody for his alleged involvement in the robbery.

Despite his protestations of innocence, Larry is tried and convicted of the crime, receiving a lengthy prison sentence. However, just as he is being transported to the prison, the same gang that framed him for the robbery attacks the convoy and manages to free Larry from his captors. Unwilling to accept the fact that he is now a wanted fugitive, Larry determines to clear his name and bring the real culprits to justice.

As he makes his way through the harsh and unforgiving landscape of the West, Larry encounters a mysterious, gun-toting stranger named Dan (Randolph Scott) who is also on the trail of the outlaws. Initially wary of each other, the two men eventually join forces and set out to bring the gang to justice. Along the way, they encounter a beautiful and feisty saloon singer named Darcy (Joan Weldon) who joins them on their quest for revenge.

With their combined skills and experience, Larry, Dan, and Darcy prove to be a formidable force against the outlaws who continue to terrorize the towns and villages in their path. As they close in on their prey, they face numerous dangers and obstacles, including treacherous swamps, dangerous river crossings, and vicious gunfights. Through it all, they remain determined to see justice done and prove Larry's innocence once and for all.

Riding Shotgun is a classic Western movie with all the elements that fans of the genre have come to love - epic landscapes, thrilling gunfights, and larger-than-life characters. Randolph Scott delivers a commanding performance as the enigmatic and resourceful Dan, while Wayne Morris brings a sense of vulnerability and pathos to the role of Larry, a man unjustly accused and determined to clear his name. Joan Weldon also turns in a memorable performance as the independent and headstrong Darcy, a strong female character in a genre not known for such roles.

In addition to its strong cast and compelling story, Riding Shotgun is notable for its stunning cinematography and epic scale. Director André De Toth makes great use of the sweeping landscapes and rugged terrain of the West, creating a sense of vastness and grandeur that is a hallmark of classic Western movies. The action sequences are also well-staged and executed, with plenty of tense moments and thrilling set pieces that keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
