In the 1940 movie "Ride, Tenderfoot, Ride," Gene Autry plays a singing cowboy named Gene Autry who just inherited his Uncle's ranch, which is in bad shape due to a lack of profits. Autry is also the guardian of his 13-year-old niece, Cindy Lou (Mary Lee), who comes to live with him at the ranch. Autry and his pal Smiley Burnette (Smokey) soon find out that a group of crooks are trying to run the ranchers in the area out of business to take over their properties. The crooks are headed up by a man named Stark (Robert Homans) who is trying to create a monopoly on the area's cattle market.
Autry and Smokey soon realize that Cindy Lou is a key witness in the case against Stark, and they must protect her from the crooks. They hatch a plan to trick the crooks into thinking Cindy Lou is out of the picture, but their plan backfires, and the crooks kidnap Cindy Lou. Autry and Smokey set out on horseback to rescue Cindy Lou and bring the crooks to justice.
Along the way, Autry and Smokey encounter a woman named Juanita (June Storey), who is being mistreated by her boss, a saloon owner named Slinger (Roy Gordon). Autry and Smokey intervene and help Juanita escape from Slinger's clutches. Juanita soon joins them on their quest to rescue Cindy Lou and bring the crooks to justice.
The movie is a classic western adventure with plenty of action, humor, and musical performances. Gene Autry's singing and guitar playing are top-notch, and his dynamic chemistry with Smiley Burnette adds to the movie's charm. The addition of June Storey's character, Juanita, adds a touch of romance to the movie, with an underlying hint that she and Autry may have a romantic interest in each other. The young Mary Lee delivers a sweet and innocent performance as Cindy Lou, and her bravery adds to the movie's tension.
The movie's message is clear: good triumphs over evil, and justice will prevail. The power of friendship, loyalty, and family is another significant theme throughout the movie. Autry and Smokey are loyal friends to each other and will do anything to protect Cindy Lou, who is part of their chosen family.
Overall, "Ride, Tenderfoot, Ride," is a delightful western movie filled with action, comedy, romance, and catchy musical performances. Gene Autry's talent as a singer and actor shines through, and the chemistry between the cast members makes for an enjoyable, family-friendly movie.
