Revenge of the Samurai Cop is a 2015 action-comedy film directed by Gregory Hatanaka and starring Mathew Karedas, Mark Frazer, and Bai Ling. The movie is a sequel to the cult classic Samurai Cop from 1991. The story picks up 25 years after the events of the original film. Joe Marshall (Mathew Karedas), the titular Samurai Cop, is now a recluse who lives in a small town in Nevada. He spends his days fishing and avoiding any kind of confrontation. However, when his old partner Frank Washington (Mark Frazer) informs him that a gang of Japanese criminals is on the loose and threatening to destroy the city, Joe decides to come out of retirement and save the day.
Along with Frank and a new team of cops, Joe sets out to stop the Japanese gang led by Fuj Fujiyama (Tommy Wiseau). Along the way, they encounter an array of eccentric characters, including a Mexican wrestling duo, a group of drag queens, and a seductive femme fatale played by Bai Ling.
The film is a homage to cheesy 80s and 90s action movies and doesn't take itself seriously. The action sequences are over-the-top and absurd, featuring explosions, car chases, and martial arts fights. The humor is also quite crude, with a lot of sexual jokes and innuendos.
One of the main draws of the movie is its cast. Mathew Karedas, who also wrote the screenplay, is known for his wooden acting style and broken English delivery, which made him a cult favorite in the original Samurai Cop. Mark Frazer reprises his role as Frank Washington, and the two have great chemistry on screen. Bai Ling gives a memorable performance as the sultry villain who seduces Joe.
However, the standout performance comes from Tommy Wiseau, best known for writing, directing, and starring in the infamous cult classic The Room. Wiseau plays the evil mastermind Fuj Fujiyama with a bizarre mix of over-the-top acting and awkward delivery. His scenes are some of the most entertaining in the movie.
The film also features a number of cameos from other cult favorites, including Laurene Landon, Melissa Moore, and Kristine DeBell.
Overall, Revenge of the Samurai Cop is a fun and silly throwback to an era of action movies that doesn't take itself too seriously. It's not a film for everyone, but fans of cheesy B-movies and cult classics are sure to enjoy it.
Revenge Of The Samurai Cop is a 2017 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 26 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.5.
