In Renegade Trail, William Boyd stars as Hopalong Cassidy, a cowboy who is on a mission to bring a group of outlaws to justice. Alongside him are Russell Hayden, who plays Lucky Jenkins, his loyal partner, and George 'Gabby' Hayes who plays Windy Halliday, a friend and scout. The movie begins with Hopalong and Lucky finding a wounded man out in the desert. The man, named Bob Hendricks, tells them that he was part of a group of men who committed a robbery and that one of the members, named Vance Trilling, had betrayed the others and taken off with the loot. The wounded man gives them a map to the loot's location and then dies.

Hopalong and Lucky decide to take up the task of finding Trilling and bring him to justice. They soon encounter Trilling's gang and engage in a shootout. One of the gang members, Fresno, is captured and reveals that Trilling is hiding out at a nearby ghost town.

Hopalong and Lucky arrive at the ghost town and find Trilling who denies any involvement in the robbery. They capture him and bring him back to town to stand trial. However, the townspeople are in favor of Trilling and the trial quickly turns into a hostile situation.

Despite the backlash, Hopalong is determined to bring Trilling to justice and brings in more evidence against him. However, before the verdict can be delivered, Trilling's gang arrives and saves him. A chase ensues, leading to a final showdown between Hopalong and Trilling, in which the truth about the robbery is revealed.

Renegade Trail is a solid Western starring William Boyd and featuring his famous character Hopalong Cassidy. Boyd's portrayal of Hopalong is compelling and the chemistry between him and his co-stars, Russell Hayden and George 'Gabby' Hayes, is excellent. The action scenes are well-executed, and the film's pacing keeps the audience engaged.

One of the highlights of the movie is the scenery. The desert landscapes and ghost town provide a stunning backdrop for the film's action. The cinematography captures the beauty of the American West.

The film's plot is simple but has enough twists and turns to keep the audience on their toes. The addition of the map, which seems like a McGuffin at first, leads to the discovery of the location of the hidden loot and becomes the driving force behind Hopalong's mission.

In terms of the film's themes, Renegade Trail highlights the idea of duty and doing what is right, even in the face of opposition. Hopalong's determination to bring Trilling to justice, despite the hostility from the townspeople, is an admirable trait.

Overall, Renegade Trail is a classic Western that fans of the genre will enjoy. Boyd's performance as Hopalong Cassidy is outstanding, and the movie's action scenes and scenery make for a thrilling film experience.
