Relative Strangers is a 2006 comedy movie that stars Danny DeVito, Kathy Bates, and Ron Livingston. Directed by Greg Glienna, the movie tells the story of a successful psychologist Richard Clayton (Livingston) who discovers that he was adopted as a baby. After this revelation, Richard decides to track down his biological parents, but things do not go as smoothly as he hoped.

The movie begins with Richard Clayton living a seemingly perfect life. He has a successful career, a beautiful girlfriend Alex (Neve Campbell), and a loving family. However, when he discovers that he was adopted as a baby, Richard's life takes an unexpected turn. Fueled by a desire to know his biological roots, Richard sets out to find his birth mother and father.

After a visit to the hospital where he was born, Richard discovers that his birth mother was a teenage girl who died shortly after giving birth to him. He then tracks down his father, a strange and eccentric man named Frank (DeVito). Frank is initially uninterested in getting to know his son, but after Richard wears him down, he finally agrees to meet him.

Things take a turn for the worse when Richard meets his father's dysfunctional family. Frank's wife, Agnes (Bates), is a controlling and manipulative woman who tries to sabotage Richard's relationship with his father. Her two sons, Brian (Richard Jenkins) and Mitch (Martin Mull), are equally eccentric and hostile to Richard's presence.

As Richard tries to navigate the complicated dynamics of Frank's family, he also has to deal with his own issues. He worries that he may have inherited some of his father's strange and antisocial behaviors, and he struggles to connect with Alex, who is less than thrilled about his quest to find his birth parents.

Throughout the movie, Richard's attempts to bond with his biological family are comically thwarted. From Frank's bizarre habits to Agnes' passive-aggressive behavior, Richard is constantly on the receiving end of some strange and often uncomfortable situations. However, as the movie progresses, Richard learns more about himself and his family, and he begins to realize that blood ties are not always what they seem.

Relative Strangers is a heartwarming and funny movie that explores the intricate dynamics of family relationships. The cast is superb, with DeVito and Bates stealing the show with their larger-than-life performances. Livingston is an excellent lead, conveying both the humorous and emotional aspects of Richard's journey.

Overall, Relative Strangers is a movie that will make you laugh and tug at your heartstrings. It is a story about the complexities of family ties, and how sometimes the people we are related to are not the ones we choose to be a part of our lives.

Relative Strangers is a 2006 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 26 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.3.
