Red Faction: Origins is a science fiction movie that was released in 2011. The movie takes place several years after the events of the video game Red Faction: Guerrilla. The story follows the protagonist, Jake Mason, who is trying to unravel the mystery behind his parents' disappearance. He discovers that the Earth Defense Force (EDF) was responsible for their death and decides to join the Red Faction - a group of rebels fighting against the EDF's tyranny on Mars.

The movie begins with Jake as a young boy, witnessing his parents' murder by the EDF. The EDF was trying to suppress the rebellion on Mars led by the Red Faction. Jake is then taken to Earth by his grandparents and grows up to become a lieutenant in the EDF. He discovers his sister Lyra is still on Mars and goes there to rescue her.

On Mars, Jake quickly finds out that the EDF is still ruling with an iron fist and begins to see the Red Faction in a more sympathetic light. While on a mission, he is captured by the Red Faction and taken to their base. Jake meets his sister Lyra, who is now a high-ranking member of the Red Faction.

Lyra and Jake reconcile and team up to find out the truth behind their parents' death. They both realize that the EDF is suppressing all rebellions on Mars and is willing to resort to extreme measures to maintain control. The siblings uncover a plot by the EDF to unleash a biological weapon to wipe out the Red Faction and any other dissenting voices on Mars.

The movie is filled with action and suspense as the Red Faction and EDF engage in a full-scale war. There are plenty of intense firefights between the two factions, and the special effects are impressive. Another thing that stands out is the production design of the Red Faction's base, which is reminiscent of the underground lairs from James Bond movies.

The acting is top-notch, with Brian J. Smith playing the role of Jake with intensity and conviction. Danielle Nicolet does an admirable job as Lyra, while Kate Vernon shines as the EDF commander, who is more than willing to do whatever it takes to maintain her position of power. The supporting cast is also excellent, with every actor giving their all.

The movie's pacing is well done, with the story moving along at a brisk pace. The movie's length is just over an hour and a half, which is perfect for an action movie. There are no unnecessary scenes, and everything is geared towards moving the story forward.

One of the movie's strengths is its portrayal of the Red Faction as a group of freedom fighters. In the video games, the Red Faction is often portrayed as a group of terrorists, but the movie takes a more nuanced approach. The Red Faction is shown as people fighting for their lives and their rights, and the audience is made to sympathize with their cause.

Overall, Red Faction: Origins is an excellent movie that should appeal to fans of the video game series and science fiction in general. The movie has everything you could want in an action movie - a compelling story, excellent acting, and impressive special effects. While the movie may not be a classic, it is certainly an exciting and entertaining watch.

Red Faction: Origins is a 2011 science fiction movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 28 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.1.
