Recess: School's Out is an animated comedy movie released in 2001, directed by Chuck Sheetz and inspired by a Disney Channel's TV show, Recess. The movie stars the voice talents of Andrew Lawrence, Rickey D'Shon Collins, Jason Davis, Ashley Johnson, Dabney Coleman, and James Woods. The story takes place at Third Street Elementary School during summer vacation. T.J. Detweiler and his gang of fourth-grade friends are excited to finally enjoy their summer and have fun playing. However, their plans change when they discover that the school's ex-principal, Dr. Benedict, is planning a dangerous plot to end summer vacation forever.

Dr. Benedict is a former military scientist who is obsessed with order and discipline, and he has developed a plan to alter the orbit of the moon, which would cause a massive winter that would last indefinitely. The plan is part of his bigger plan to transform the entire country into a military state by eliminating the concept of summertime fun and replacing it with discipline.

T.J. and his friends are the only ones aware of Dr. Benedict's evil plan, and they quickly form a secret operation to stop him. They create the "Recess Rebel Alliance" and seek the help of former villains, Randall and the Ashleys, who have insightful information since Dr. Benedict hired them as interns.

Together, the group comes up with a plan to infiltrate the school and sabotage Dr. Benedict's weather machine. Still, their mission poses a considerable risk given that they have to avoid detention and wrath of the strict hall monitors, who are Dr. Benedict's loyal followers.

Throughout the movie, the audience is taken on a thrilling and adventurous ride as T.J. and his friends work to prevent Dr. Benedict from executing his plan while trying to enjoy their summer break at the same time. The movie also has doses of humor, both silly and witty, that provides a light-hearted touch.

The animation of the movie is top-notch, from character designs to action sequences. The movie also has a brilliant soundtrack that sets the mood for every scene, creating a nostalgic 90s atmosphere.

In conclusion, Recess: School's Out is an excellent movie for audiences of all ages who enjoy animated movies that combine humor, action, and adventure. It also brings back a sense of nostalgia for those who followed the TV series while introducing new viewers to the world of T.J. and his friends.

Recess: School's Out is a 2001 animated movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 23 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.5 and a MetaScore of 43.
