Ravage is a survival thriller film that features a young photojournalist, Harper Sykes (Annabelle Dexter-Jones), who travels to a remote area to investigate a controversial story about the mistreatment of animals. She encounters a group of hunters who have been illegally trapping animals in the woods. After the hunters discover Harper taking pictures of their traps, they brutally attack and leave her for dead.
Harper wakes up injured and alone in the woods, unable to walk without the help of a makeshift crutch. Determined to survive and tell her story, she crawls her way through the wilderness, avoiding traps and danger at every turn. Bruce Dern plays the role of Ravener, a reclusive hunter living deep in the woods who reluctantly takes her in and becomes her unlikely ally.
As Harper begins to heal and discover the secrets of the woods, she realizes that the hunters are not her only enemy. A sinister gas company is destroying the wilderness to build a pipeline, and their ruthless security chief (Robert Longstreet) is willing to do whatever it takes to silence anyone who gets in their way.
With the help of Ravener, Harper sets out to expose the truth about the gas company and the hunters, putting her own life in danger in the process. As the tension builds and the danger escalates, the hunt becomes a fight for survival.
Ravage is a gripping and intense movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Dexter-Jones delivers a strong performance as Harper, portraying both vulnerability and tenacity in equal measure. Dern is exceptional as Ravener, a gruff and grizzled hunter with a heart of gold. Longstreet is convincingly menacing as the ruthless security chief, making it easy to root against his character.
The film's setting is stunning, with sweeping shots of the forest landscape adding to the sense of isolation and danger. The use of practical effects and stunts is impressive, adding to the realism of the film's more intense moments.
One of the film's strengths is the way it handles the themes of survival and the environment. The tension between Harper and Ravener, who have very different views on human impact on nature, adds depth to the story. The film paints a stark picture of the dangers of unchecked corporate greed, and the lengths some people will go to protect the wilderness.
Overall, Ravage is a well-crafted and engaging film that is well worth watching. With strong performances, a compelling story, and beautiful scenery, it's a must-see for fans of survival thrillers.
Ravage is a 2020 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 24 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.0.
