Random Encounter is a 1998 drama/thriller movie directed by Douglas Jackson and starring Elizabeth Berkley, J.H. Wyman, and Frank Schorpion. The movie follows the story of Amanda, a young woman who appears to have everything, but doesn't truly feel satisfied with her life. Amanda is a successful marketing executive in New York City who has recently gone through a bad breakup. She's trying to move on from her past and start a new life, but things aren't going as planned. One night, she goes out with her friends and meets a handsome stranger named Jim, and the two hit it off.
As their relationship starts to develop, Amanda begins to feel like she's finally found the happiness she's been searching for. However, things take a turn when she discovers that Jim isn't the person he claims to be. He's actually a criminal who's on the run from the police, and he's been using Amanda to hide out.
As Amanda becomes more entangled in Jim's dangerous world, she must decide whether to continue to be with him or to protect herself and turn him in to the authorities. Her life is in danger, and her future is uncertain.
The movie does a great job of building tension, and the pacing is excellent. The soundtrack is also quite good and helps to create a sense of unease that's necessary for a thriller of this type.
Elizabeth Berkley gives a strong performance as Amanda, and she's able to convey the character's emotions convincingly. J.H. Wyman also does a good job as Jim, and he's able to convey both the charm and the dangerousness of his character.
The cinematography is also noteworthy, and the movie has some impressive shots of New York City. The visual style complements the movie's tone, and the locations add to the believability of the story.
Overall, Random Encounter is a well-made thriller that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. It's a great example of how to create tension and suspense without resorting to over-the-top action scenes or special effects. The movie is grounded in reality, making it all the more frightening.
If you're a fan of thrillers, then Random Encounter is definitely worth checking out. The movie may not have the star power of some other films in the genre, but it's still an entertaining and compelling watch.
