Rammbock is a German horror movie from 2010 directed by Marvin Kren. The story is set in Berlin, where a young man named Michael has come to visit his ex-girlfriend Gabi. When he arrives at the apartment complex where she lives, he finds that Gabi is not there and the building has been suddenly overrun by raging zombies. Michael, who only came to return Gabi's key, soon realizes that he is trapped in the building, and his only option is to fight for survival against the zombie horde.

The film starts with Michael arriving in Berlin, excited to see his ex-girlfriend Gabi and try to win her back. However, when he arrives at her apartment, he finds that she's not there. While waiting for her, he strikes up a conversation with the quirky but friendly Harper, who lives in a neighboring apartment. Suddenly, without any warning, a woman in the hallway is attacked and bitten by a raging zombie. The scene is shocking and fast-paced, launching the film's main conflict and establishing the tense atmosphere of the story.

As Michael and Harper realize that the building is under siege by the undead, they band together with a few other survivors in the building. They quickly discover that the virus is spreading fast and that they must act quickly if they want to stand any chance of survival. Michael still holds out hope of finding Gabi but soon realizes that the chances of her still being alive are slim. The film expertly blends horror and psychological thriller genres, as the characters are faced with both physical dangers and their own emotional demons.

Rammbock, which translates to 'Rampage' in English, stands out from other zombie movies because of its focus on the relationships between the characters. The film spends time developing Michael's character and his thwarted love for Gabi, which makes it all the more impactful when he must face the possibility that she's dead. Harper, played by Theo Trebs, is also a standout character. He's a bit of a loner but still manages to provide comic relief in some of the bleakest moments of the film.

Director Marvin Kren does a fantastic job with the pacing of Rammbock. The film runs at a tight 63 minutes, which means there's no time for unnecessary filler. Every scene is essential to the advancement of the story, keeping the audience engaged and on edge. Additionally, Kren makes excellent use of the apartment complex setting, creating a claustrophobic environment that heightens the tension of the story.

The zombies themselves are also a unique aspect of Rammbock. Unlike most zombie movies, where the undead are slow and lumbering, the zombies in this film are fast and vicious. They're relentless in their pursuit of the living, which makes for some intense and scary moments. The makeup and special effects used to create the zombies are also top-notch, making their appearance all the more terrifying.

Overall, Rammbock is a thrilling and well-crafted zombie movie. It combines elements of horror and psychological thriller genres, while also providing a human element through the characters' relationships. The pacing is spot-on, and the setting and zombies are both unique and effective. Fans of the zombie genre are sure to enjoy this intense and action-packed film.
