In the movie Railroad Tigers, Jackie Chan plays Ma Yuan, a railroad worker who leads a group of resistance fighters against the Japanese invaders during World War II. The story takes place in 1941, during the height of Japan's occupation of China. Ma Yuan and his team of ragtag railroad workers are a brave bunch, but they are also practical. They know that they can't fight the Japanese army head-on, so they go about their resistance work in a more subtle way. They raid Japanese trains at night, steal supplies, and distribute them to the local Chinese population. They use their knowledge of the rail system to their advantage, sabotaging Japanese supply lines and disrupting their communication. They are like Robin Hood and his band of merry men, but instead of robbing from the rich to give to the poor, they are robbing from the enemy to give to their own people.

However, things take a more serious turn when Ma Yuan and his team discover that the Japanese are planning to transport a large amount of gold on a train. The gold is intended to be used to finance the war effort, so Ma Yuan and his team know that they have to stop it at all costs. Their mission becomes more complicated when they learn that the train will be passing through an area that is heavily guarded by Japanese troops.

To make matters worse, Ma Yuan's estranged son, played by Jaycee Chan, is part of the Japanese army. The father and son have a strained relationship, but they both love and respect each other. Their relationship adds a layer of complexity to the story, as it is clear that they are on opposite sides of the conflict.

One of the highlights of the movie is the action scenes. Jackie Chan, who has made a career out of performing impressive stunts and fighting scenes, does not disappoint. There are several scenes that showcase his agility and martial arts skills, including a scene where he fights off a group of Japanese soldiers while hanging from the side of a moving train. The action scenes are well-choreographed and provide a lot of adrenaline-pumping moments.

Another notable aspect of the movie is the production design. The film is set in a time when China was occupied by Japan, and the filmmakers have done an excellent job of recreating that era. The sets, costumes, and props all look authentic, and they help to transport the audience to the time and place of the story.

Railroad Tigers is not just an action movie, though. There are several moments of humor throughout the film, provided mostly by Jackie Chan's character. His lighthearted banter and comedic timing help to balance out the more serious moments. However, the movie also has a lot of heart. The relationships between the characters are well-developed, and the audience becomes invested in their struggles and triumphs.

Overall, Railroad Tigers is an enjoyable movie that combines action, humor, and heart. Jackie Chan delivers a great performance as Ma Yuan, and the supporting cast, including Jaycee Chan and Zitao Huang, also do a commendable job. The film is well-produced, and the action scenes are a definite highlight. However, what sets the movie apart is its heart. The relationships between the characters and their struggles are what keep the audience engaged, making this movie more than just a typical action flick.

Railroad Tigers is a 2017 action movie with a runtime of 2 hours and 4 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.8 and a MetaScore of 47.
