Rahtree Revenge is a 2009 Thai horror-comedy film directed by Yuthlert Sippapak. It is the third installment in the Rahtree franchise and follows the story of a vengeful ghost seeking revenge against the people who wronged her. The film stars Laila Boonyasak as the titular character, Rahtree. She is a young woman who was tragically killed in the first film and now haunts the apartment building where she died. Piya Chanasattu plays the lead male character, Dr. Montien, a psychiatrist who is called in to help the residents deal with Rahtree's revenge.
Kom Chauncheun plays Wut, another resident of the apartment building. He has a crush on a girl named Boom, played by Ampon Rattanawong, who is often seen walking her dog in the courtyard. Other notable characters include a group of schoolgirls who are staying in the building and a trio of inept criminals who accidentally stumble into the middle of Rahtree's revenge plot.
The film opens with a recap of Rahtree's story from the previous films. We learn that she was a young woman who was abandoned by her boyfriend and left to raise their child alone. She subsequently took her own life and now haunts the apartment building where she died. The residents of the building are all aware of her presence and have learned to coexist with her.
However, when a group of schoolgirls move into the building for a short stay, they inadvertently awaken Rahtree's vengeful spirit. She begins to torment the girls and anyone else who stands in her way. Dr. Montien is called in to help the residents deal with the situation, but he quickly realizes that Rahtree is not an ordinary ghost.
As Rahtree's revenge plot unfolds, we see the various characters being affected in different ways. Wut and Boom's budding romance is threatened by the ghostly presence, while the criminals find themselves in a world of trouble when they steal a valuable artifact from Rahtree's shrine. The schoolgirls, meanwhile, find themselves in a fight for their lives as they try to escape Rahtree's clutches.
The film strikes a balance between horror and comedy, with plenty of jump scares and gore mixed in with slapstick humor and witty one-liners. The visual effects are impressive, with Rahtree's ghostly apparitions looking suitably creepy and otherworldly.
Throughout the film, we see how Rahtree's death and subsequent revenge are tied to themes of love, betrayal, and abandonment. Her story is a tragic one, and it is difficult not to feel sympathy for her as she seeks justice against those who wronged her.
Overall, Rahtree Revenge is a solid entry in the horror-comedy genre. It offers plenty of scares and laughs, as well as some unexpectedly poignant moments. Fans of the previous films in the franchise will appreciate the continuation of Rahtree's story, while newcomers will find it easy to get caught up in the supernatural mayhem.
