In the dystopian world of Priest, vampires and humans coexist in segregated cities separated by walls. The Church is the dominant force, and its supremely powerful priests fight against the vampires who threaten the peace. The story revolves around a priest named Ivan Isaacs (Paul Bettany) who lives in obscurity, disavowed by the Church for his renegade ways. When his niece Lucy (Lily Collins) is abducted by a group of vampires, Ivan sets out on a quest to save her. Along the way, he teams up with a sheriff named Hicks (Cam Gigandet) and a warrior priestess named Priestess (Maggie Q) who have their own agendas.

As they journey through the dangerous wastelands outside the city walls, Ivan and his companions face countless obstacles and engage in intense battles with the vampire hive that has taken Lucy. Along the way, they discover a sinister plot by a powerful vampire leader (Karl Urban) who wants to destroy the Church and rule over humans and vampires alike.

The movie is a fast-paced action-thriller with a unique visual style that combines gothic and western elements. The CGI-enhanced scenes of futuristic vehicles speeding across desolate landscapes and vampires leaping from building to building are stunning. There is also plenty of hand-to-hand combat, gunfights, and explosions to satisfy fans of action movies.

But the movie is not just about the action. It explores the themes of faith and redemption, as Ivan and his companions confront their inner demons and find new purpose in their lives. The presence of the Church as a controlling force also raises questions about the power of religion in society, and the dangers of blindly following authority.

Paul Bettany's performance as Ivan is impressive, conveying a sense of stoic determination and haunted past. Cam Gigandet and Maggie Q also hold their own as tough, resourceful allies. The supporting cast, including Karl Urban as the menacing villain and Brad Dourif as the eccentric owner of a vampire brothel, add depth and color to the movie.

Overall, Priest is a highly entertaining movie that delivers a satisfying mix of action, suspense, and philosophy. It may not be the most original or profound science-fiction movie out there, but it is definitely worth checking out for fans of the genre.

Priest is a 2011 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 27 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.7 and a MetaScore of 41.
