Pretendiendo, is a movie starring the talented Uruguayan actress, Barbara Mori (as Amanda/Helena). The film also comes with contributions from Marcelo Mazzarello (as Marcelo), Amaya Forch (as Karen), Jaime Azócar (as Max), Rodrigo Muñoz (as Guillermo), and Paz Bascuñán (as Fernanda). The movie was distributed by Paramount pictures in several Spanish speaking countries with great success. Due to the originality of the story and the quality of the script, it was also modified to the North American (USA) audience under the name, Ugly Me. Pretendiendo is a story that is directed & written by Chilean, Claudio Dabed.

The story is centered around the leading character, Amanda, a professional woman with unparalleled beauty who decides to move to another location (from Santiago de Chile, to Valparaíso) after she discovers that her boyfriend is cheating on her with her best girl friend. To make things even worse for her, she was also fired from her old job.

At her new job and location, she meets the arrogant and cocky Marcelo who she feels, needs to be put in his place. She is tired and disappointed of what has happened to her in the past that, she wants to prove her theory that, a woman is much more than her external appearance. For that, she transforms herself into a new ugly Amanda by using false crooked teeth and a fat suit that makes her looks the complete opposite to how she really is on the outside. This character helps aid her to drive men away, who are attracted to her. At the same time, she creates and plays another role, Helena who is a secure gorgeous vixen that is willing to give men a hard time and make them pay for their disloyal behavior.

Amanda becomes the best friend of Marcelo, while Helena drives him crazy with passion.
