Watch Premaloka

Premaloka is a romantic drama film from 1987 directed by V. Ravichandran, who also stars in the lead role alongside Juhi Chawla and Vishnuvardhan. The film follows the classic love triangle trope with a dash of comedy, adventure, and drama. The movie starts with a young man named Ravichandran, who is the son of a rich businessman, falling in love with a beautiful singer named Madhu, played by Juhi Chawla. However, their love story is hindered by Madhu's father's disapproval of Ravichandran's background and his desire for Madhu to marry a successful and wealthy man. To win her father's approval, Ravichandran pretends to be a beggar and secretly helps Madhu's family in times of need.

Soon after, Madhu's father decides to get her married to one of his wealthy associates, leaving Ravichandran heartbroken. Things take a dramatic turn when Ravichandran discovers a hidden treasure map that takes him and his friend played by Vishnuvardhan on an epic adventure to find it. With the help of a few underground characters and hilarious antics, Ravichandran finally gets his hands on the treasure.

However, his riches are short-lived as he is cornered and robbed by the same group of villains who helped him find the treasure. In a desperate attempt to save himself and his newfound wealth, Ravichandran escapes with his friend on a helicopter.

As luck would have it, the helicopter crashes and Ravichandran is presumed dead, leaving Madhu heartbroken. But in a twist of fate, Ravichandran is saved and nursed back to health by a kind-hearted old couple who own a coffee plantation in a remote area. Out of gratitude, Ravichandran helps the couple by setting up a coffee factory, which turns out to be a roaring success.

Years pass and Ravichandran becomes a wealthy and successful businessman. In the meantime, Madhu marries the man chosen by her father, but her marriage fails due to the constant abuse by her alcoholic husband. Ravichandran and Madhu cross paths again when he visits the same town where she is living, and they rekindle their love for each other.

The movie is a roller coaster ride of emotions, comedy, and adventure with a great soundtrack and well-choreographed dance numbers. The lead actors give excellent performances, and the supporting cast, especially the comedians, add to the overall charm of the film.

Premaloka was a runaway hit when it hit theatres in 1987, breaking box office records and cementing Ravichandran's status as a top actor and director in Kannada cinema. It is a timeless classic that is still remembered and loved by audiences today.
