Porco Rosso is Hiyao Miyazaki's much-loved animated classic. Released in 1992, it represented a major step forward in the development of Japan's Studio Ghibli and the famous imagery of Miyazaki films. Much of the later symbolism and concerns of the later Ghibli films are present in Porco Rosso, especially the fascination with flight and the air. Porco Rosso is a World War I flying ace with his own biplane, but he is also an anthropomorphized pig. The playful, humorous nature of the film is everywhere, but there are moments of real stress and daring. This film is of great interest to scholars of the works of Miyazaki.

Porco Rosso is a 1992 kids & family movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 34 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.7 and a MetaScore of 83.
